πŸ“¦ Parcel & Freight Management

The Parcel / Freight module of the SERA platform allows counter agents to register goods shipments entrusted to the cooperative’s vehicles, with full traceability, from shipment to handover to the recipient.

1. πŸ“ Registering a New Parcel

A parcel is created from the dedicated form, accessible from the Parcels page of the relevant line or trip:

  1. Sender / Recipient: selection or quick creation of the traveler profile (name, phone, National ID) for each party.

  2. Description of contents: nature of the goods, declared weight or volume, estimated value if insurance is desired.

  3. Trip selection: choose the trip that will carry the parcel among the scheduled trips.

As soon as a trip is selected (or already pre-filled when the form opens), the Departure, Arrival and Vehicle fields are automatically completed based on the selected trip’s information. You can still correct these fields manually if needed: selecting a new trip does not overwrite a correction you’ve already entered as long as you don’t change the trip again.

2. 🚚 Trip Linking and Pricing

  • Departure / Arrival: automatically taken from the selected trip, determining the billed segment.

  • Assigned vehicle: automatically identified from the trip, ensuring the parcel is properly linked to the right vehicle for loading manifest editing.

  • Transport fare: calculated based on declared weight/volume and segment distance.

3. πŸ” Tracking a Parcel’s Status

Each parcel follows a clear lifecycle, viewable at any time from the parcel list:

Status Meaning

Registered

The parcel is created and linked to a trip, awaiting loading.

Loaded

The parcel has been effectively loaded onto the vehicle when the manifest was closed.

En Route

The vehicle carrying the parcel has left the departure station.

Arrived

The vehicle has arrived at destination; the parcel is available for pickup.

Delivered

The parcel has been handed over to the recipient (or an authorized person) against the waybill reference/receipt.

4. βœ… Handover to the Recipient

Upon the vehicle’s arrival, the destination station agent closes the parcel’s tracking:

  1. Verification of the recipient’s identity (or the person authorized to collect) using the waybill reference.

  2. Visual inspection of the parcel’s condition at handover.

  3. Validation of the handover in the platform, which changes the status to "Delivered" and permanently closes the tracking.

A parcel can only be marked "Delivered" if the corresponding trip is already in "Arrived" status. This rule prevents any early handover before the vehicle has actually arrived.
